Dr. Lath is a graduate of the University of Calcutta Medical School. She completed two years of residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a postgraduate degree in internal medicine at the University of New Delhi. She practiced internal medicine in India prior to moving to Chicago to complete a residency at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She later served as chief of the Head Trauma Department at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in California and had a private practice in San Gabriel.

Dr. Lath is a voluntary assistant professor at the University of Southern California Medical Center. She has two grown sons, and her hobbies include computer games, yoga and watching professional football.
